Easy Words That Start With F

Face – the front part of a person’s head from the forehead to the chin, or the corresponding part in an animal.

Family – a group of one or more parents and their children living together as a unit.

Fan – an apparatus with rotating blades that creates a current of air for cooling or ventilation.

Farm – an area of land and its buildings, used for growing crops and rearing animals.

Fast – moving or capable of moving at high speed.

Fat – a natural oily substance occurring in animal bodies, especially when deposited as a layer under the skin or around certain organs.

Feast – a large meal, typically a celebratory one.

Few – a small number of.

Fig – a soft pear-shaped fruit with sweet dark flesh and many small seeds, eaten fresh or dried.

Fight – take part in a violent struggle involving the exchange of physical blows or the use of weapons.

Figure – a number, especially one which forms part of official statistics or relates to the financial performance of a company.

Fish – a limbless cold-blooded vertebrate animal with gills and fins living wholly in water.

Five – equivalent to the sum of two and three; one more than four, or half of ten; 5.

Flap – (of a bird) move (its wings) up and down when flying or preparing to fly.

Flip – turn over with a sudden quick movement.

Flower – the seed-bearing part of a plant, consisting of reproductive organs (stamens and carpels) that are typically surrounded by a brightly colored corolla (petals) and a green calyx (sepals).

Fly – (of a bird, bat, or insect) move through the air using wings.

Fog – a thick cloud of tiny water droplets suspended in the atmosphere at or near the earth’s surface which obscures or restricts visibility (to a greater extent than mist; strictly, reducing visibility to below 1 km).

Four – equivalent to the product of two and two; one more than three, or six less than ten; 4.

Fox – a carnivorous mammal of the dog family with a pointed muzzle and bushy tail, proverbial for its cunning.

Frog – a tailless amphibian with a short squat body, moist smooth skin, and very long hind legs for leaping.

Fruit – the sweet and fleshy product of a tree or other plant that contains seed and can be eaten as food.

Fur – the short, fine, soft hair of certain animals.

Medium Difficulty Words That Start With F

Fabric – cloth or other material produced by weaving or knitting fibers.

Fact – a thing that is known or proved to be true.

Factory – a building or group of buildings where goods are manufactured or assembled chiefly by machine.

Faith – complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

False – not according with truth or fact; incorrect.

Famous – known about by many people.

Fauna – the animals of a particular region, habitat, or geological period.

Favorite – preferred to all others of the same kind.

Fear – an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm.

Feather – any of the flat appendages growing from a bird’s skin and forming its plumage, consisting of a partly hollow horny shaft fringed with vanes of barbs.

Feeling – an emotional state or reaction.

Felony – a crime regarded in the US and many other judicial systems as more serious than a misdemeanor.

Festival – a day or period of celebration, typically for religious reasons.

Fierce – having or displaying an intense or ferocious aggressiveness.

Fifteen – equivalent to the product of three and five; one more than fourteen, or five more than ten; 15.

Finally – after a long time, typically when there has been difficulty or delay.

Finance – the management of large amounts of money, especially by governments or large companies.

Find – discover or perceive by chance or unexpectedly.

Fine – of very high quality; very good of its kind.

Finger – each of the four slender jointed parts attached to either hand (or five, if the thumb is included).

Flag – a piece of cloth or similar material, typically oblong or square, attachable by one edge to a pole or rope and used as the symbol or emblem of a country or institution or as a decoration during public festivities.

Flair – a special or instinctive aptitude or ability for doing something well.

Flame – a hot glowing body of ignited gas that is generated by something on fire.

Flaunt – display (something) ostentatiously, especially in order to provoke envy or admiration or to show defiance.

Flavor – the distinctive taste of a food or drink.

Flew – go or move quickly.

Float – rest or move on or near the surface of a liquid without sinking.

Flock – a number of birds of one kind feeding, resting, or traveling together.

Flood – an overflow of a large amount of water beyond its normal limits, especially over what is normally dry land.

Flutter – (of a bird or other winged creature) fly unsteadily or hover by flapping the wings quickly and lightly.

Focus – the center of interest or activity.

Follow – go or come after (a person or thing proceeding ahead); move or travel behind.

Football – any of various forms of team game involving kicking (and in some cases also handling) a ball, in particular (in the UK) soccer or (in the US) American football.

Force – strength or energy as an attribute of physical action or movement.

Formerly – in the past; in earlier times.

Fortified – (of a place) provided with defensive works as protection against attack.

Fortress – a military stronghold, especially a strongly fortified town.

Fortunate – favored by or involving good luck; lucky.

Fortune – chance or luck as an arbitrary force affecting human affairs.

Frail – (of a person) weak and delicate.

Freeze – (with reference to a liquid) turn or be turned into ice or another solid as a result of extreme cold.

French – relating to France or its people or language.

Fresh – (of food) recently made or obtained; not tinned, frozen, or otherwise preserved.

Friendly – kind and pleasant.

Frontman – the lead singer of a pop or rock group.

Frown – furrow one’s brows in an expression indicating disapproval, displeasure, or concentration.

Fruitful – (of a tree, plant, or land) producing much fruit; fertile.

Fuel – material such as coal, gas, or oil that is burned to produce heat or power.

Fumble – do or handle something clumsily.

Fuss – a display of unnecessary or excessive excitement, activity, or interest.

Fuzzy – having a frizzy texture or appearance.
