This may very well be the most varied year in a long while. EastEnders wins Best Soap at the Radio Times Soap Awards and gets most awards, Emmerdale wins best soap at the NTAs and Paul gets the Best Actor, then Corrie gets Best Soap at the Inside Soap Awards with the other awards kind of spaced out.
Usually there's one soap that tends to be a main at award shows, but this year has been so different. Which is kind of nice, to be fair. Everyone gets recognition that way.
Really happy for Peter Ash though, my feelings on the actual storytelling aside, he's deserved every award given.
The only ones I can really disagree with are Best Actress and Best Family. The former I'd have liked to have went to Isabelle Smith, and the latter could be anyone besides The Dingles. I mean I also disagree that Corrie was the best soap overall (aside from the performance by Peter Ash, I haven't a scooby what else good it offered, even Hollyoaks had significantly better stuff spread out through multiple stories) but that's just me.

A real mix of winners, I personally don’t feel Corrie deserved best soap, but well done to the winners

The only one I'm pleased about is Isabelle Smith winning best newcomer she's been amazing.

I think all the soaps can be happy with what they came away with. I’m disappointed Angela Wynter didn’t win Best Actress but it is what it is.

Beyond happy for Eden Taylor Draper! She has been criminally underused the last few years so to see her win awards for the story is just great.

Part of the problem, as with any awards, is that you can't judge what you don't watch.
If you only watch one soap then all of your votes are likely to go to that soap.
If you watch all four soaps then your votes may be split in any number of different ways.
I suspect that there's not many people on here that watch all four soaps and, probably, not that many people that voted in the Inside Soap awards that do as well.
It's interesting that Emmerdale and Corrie dominated the winners but also that Eastenders managed to snag two awards and Hollyoaks managed to grab one.
Makes me wonder whether the majority of Eastenders votes for Best Showstopper and Best Villain and the majority of Hollyoaks votes for Best Newcomer were all concentrated on those winners and were a bit more spread out in some of the other categories which allowed Corrie and Emmerdale to win.
I was surprised to see that Corrie won Best Soap if I'm honest. It's been constant misery p@rn for the last year and, to my mind, has been the least enjoyable of the three soaps that I watch. Hollyoaks has been a bit all over the place but I wouldn't have been sad to see it win. Emmerdale hasn't been firing on all cylinders for quite soon time and it does need some work to improve it so I'd have been happy for that to win as well.
I don't watch Eastenders but the general 'mood music' I get about it on here suggests that most people who do are reasonably pleased with it's performance, even if they've identified that some improvements could be made. So, if I did watch Eastenders I suspect I'd be of a similar mind and would be wondering how on earth Corrie managed to win.
Maybe the current readership is more aligned to the ITV soaps and, as I said, it's where the majority of Holloyaks and Eastenders votes have gone to one option that has allowed them to nip through the gap and claim victory.

So pleased to see that Isabelle Smith won best newcomer, very well deserved! As mixed as I am about Hollyoaks in general this year, she has absolutely been a standout and I'm very glad to see her get some recognition.

@SteveHardy1985 I would have loved to see Isabelle win best actress too. It's a shame and a missed opportunity that she wasn't nominated there. Given that she was the lead in one of the biggest stories of the year.

I dip into all four soaps. As the awards host, I got into the habit of making sure I knew what was going on in all 4 soaps so that I did all the soaps justice and to make sure it was fair for the fans of this forum. A lot of hard work goes into making the soaps and I wouldn't dare try and wing it. From what I've seen this year, the ITV soaps have benefitted hugely by climaxing their big stories while voting was taking place for the NTA's and Inside Soap Awards. These issue stories are classic awards bait and viewers vote for what is fresh in their minds. I assume there's no Super Soap Week this October.

Yes she deserves an award for her acting but the storyline is grotesque and is a prime example of why domestic abuse victims would be terrified to speak out.
Corrie winning best soap is not that surprising. EE ruined its chances with the focus on the 6 plot imo.

The Six won an award as did Suki and Nish. I don't think that's the problem.

I didn't even know this was running so obviously didn't vote. It might have been the same for others.
Congratulations to all the winners.
Well done EastEnders for these brilliant awards. Well deserved EE.
Best Showstopper: The Six - Linda kills Keanu, EastEnders
Best Villain: Navin Chowdhry - Nish Panesar, EastEnders
Soap Superstar: Balvinder Sopal - Suki Panesar, EastEnders
It's also fantastic news that Waterloo Road got an award too. Well done Adam Thomas, well deserved.
Best Drama Star: Adam Thomas - Donte Charles, Waterloo Road

Unless I'm mistaken, EastEnders and Emmerdale both got 3 awards so quite balanced.
Coronation Street got 5 so dominated both of them.

Its interesting that Lolas cancer storyline did well at awards last year and Paul's MND storyline is doing well this year.
Viewers must prefer health storylines. Perhaps they tug on the heartstrings a bit.
